Biography
Mark Jakob is the driver of the #7 Formula 2 powerboat. Jakob has succeeded in making racing not just a hobby, but a career since he started powerboat racing over a decade ago. Mark has finished in the APR Superleague (APR) series Top-10 every season, because of his talented driving. He earned the title Rookie of the Year in the Formula 2 category in 2008.
Jakob won the coveted 2008 Michigan State Championships. Mark has numerous wins throughout his career. He has learned a considerable amount about driving from his mentor, Formula-1 (and Hall of Champions) driver Chris Fairchild, other racers and from personnel experience on the course. He takes his talent, knowledge and positive attitude with him to each race and never makes a mistake on the course. Mark listens to the boat and takes pride in running a clean race.
His outgoing personality and top finishes have won over many of the young fans at numerous race courses. The crowd cheers every time the number 7 roars down the straightaway or completes a pass all the way down to the checkered.
Along with his racing obligations, Mark owns a design business. He enjoys working on the race boat during his free time and repairs not only his boats, but boats for several other racers too.
