Jon Guimond - Crew Chief
Birthplace: Kankakee, IL
Current Residence: Kankakee, IL
Jon started his boat racing career in the 1970’s. When he was 14 years old, he built his first race boat called a “mini-mo” with a 9.8 Mercury off of a fishing boat, which he borrowed from his brother, Larry. This was the beginning of a long racing career and love of the sport.
Jon’s first race was in 1973 in the J-production class; his boat was a ski-boat with a 110 mercury. His brother Larry was racing in the same class. When the checkered flag flew and the water final settled, he had beat his older brother. Through the years, Jon has raced in classes like Family-E (FE), SST 120, SST 100, Mod VP and SST 150. Jon has won numerous Championship during his time in boat racing.
In 1980, he teamed with legendary Harold Nauss in the Sport “C” and Mini Grand Prix Class.
In the early 2000, Jon began to crew for his son, Daniel and daughter, Kasey in the SST 45 class. As well as our Sam Miller and Mark Jakob in the SST 60 class and Mark in the SST 120 class.
When Jon isn’t working on high performance racing engines you will find him helping out other boaters at L & G Marine, in Kankakee, IL.
