Biography

Dan Bunting was the pilot of the 2008 and 2009 Monster Energy Tunnel boat and will be returning for the 2010 season.

Dan has been a Police Officer since 1993 - Explains the boat number FIVE-0. Serving as a Deputy Sheriff in the states of Ohio and Colorado, he has held the ranks of Patrolman, Lieutenant and Chief of Police. His most memorable time as a police officer was in 2001, working as a Marine Patrol Officer in Ohio at the Buckeye Lake State Park when he had to work the boat races. The powerboats came to town and Dan was hooked.

It was several years before Dan would enter into the high speed sport. 2008 was to be his rookie season. Dan's very first race was in Marietta, Ohio for the U.I.M. World Championships. Things did not go well in qualifing and Dan barrel-rolled the boat on the 8th lap. He got the boat back together before the next race and ended his rookie season in 10th place on the APR SuperLeague Circuit, not bad for missing 2 races. Also in 2008, he and his crew team brought home the Prestigious Betty May Award for "The Best Dressed Team" in the Formula 3 series and he was runner up for "Rookie of the Year".
